Working on the small details
Although Pretend Cars Racing is far from finished, I am very happy with its current form and I decided to start working on some smaller details that improve the overall experience. This first update main focus is how sounds work in the game.
I've been redoing some of the code and now I am using sound emitters. You will notice this with the grandstands, which you will hear as you get closer to them, or louder if there are several at the sides of the track.
If you are playing on the Windows version, computer controlled cars also have this implemented, although its a first approach as it needs some adjustments to differentiate it more from your car sounds. Unfortunately, the HTML5 version of the game can't cope with many simultaneous sounds, so this feature is deactivated in that build.
Update notes for version 0.1.20210125
- Sounds for grandstands
- Sounds for other cars (only in the Windows version)
- Player's name is highlighted under his car at the start of the race
- Improved track cutting objects and checkpoints for some tracks
